Slovakia
At Tapestry, we partner with local organizations and leaders in service and strategic problem solving within their communities. What could that look like for you and your organization?
Projects in Slovakia
Revuca, Slovakia
Be encouraged by this dedicated team of young Slovaks who have uprooted their lives and moved to Revuca to serve the youth and young families of this rural, central Slovak town. This is a true partnership with FBC, Weatherford as they work together in both Slovakia and Oklahoma to serve their communities.
Hope Church, Litovsky, Mikulas
This small church has stepped out in faith to serve their community, including an influx of Ukrainian refugees who transited through during a time of crisis. Check out their videos (also self-produced) to learn of the joy they have in serving their community. Contact us to see how you might join them in serving this beautiful city in central Slovakia, near the Tatra mountains.
Connect Church, Bratislava
This is a new church in the urban center of one of the oldest capital cities in Europe. Contact us to see how you might be a part of leadership development, community service, and other projects led by this dedicated team in one of the fastest growing cities in Europe.
Slovak Baptist Union
By working with this local organization, Tapestry International was able to provide relief services to Ukrainian refugees quickly, efficiently, and in ways that strengthened existing organizations. Contact us to see how you might join in partnering with this organization as they seek to serve the population of Slovakia, including community services for elderly citizens, seminary support needs, and more.
About The Nation
Slovakia was part of Czechoslovakia until the "velvet divorce" in January 1993. The country joined Nato and the European Union in 2004, and the eurozone in 2009, and sent troops on peacekeeping missions to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kosovo. Slovakia has a significant Romany population, which suffers disproportionately high levels of poverty and social deprivation. The country has recently seen an increasingly toxic political climate, and the 2024 attempted assassination of populist Prime Minister Robert Fico threatens to deepen the polarisation still further.
Slovakia
Tapestry International is partnering with multiple universities, NGOs, and Civil Service Organizations (CSOs) to address a broad spectrum of issues within what is now the poorest country on Earth. See the Burundi overview document for more information on this beautiful country and its current struggles. You will also read about our current projects and find ways you can get involved.
You can contribute to and through the ongoing work of Tapestry International or to a specific project that you’re partnering with us on.
