August 2025 Travel Itinerary
I’m always here. Unless I’m gone. Here’s my August travel itinerary, full of wonderful adventures!
What Do You Do?
The first question people ask, at least in the west, when meeting you tends to be, “What do you do?” While that may say a lot about who we are as a society, that’s not the topic of this post.
Gakwende, Burundi: Orphanage
I have a friend in Burundi who’s guiding rule growing up was, “find another way.” Obstacles were to be overcome, not to be allowed to overcome him. He has, to use his phrasing, “lived life differently.”
Kiremba, Burundi: Orphanage

Little gods
The song, “How Great,” sung by David Crowder begins “I’m so bored of little gods / While standing on the edge of something large.” That sentiment echoes in my head as I reflect on Burundi, the poorest country on earth.
Homesick in Valentine, Nebraska
It was the summer after my senior year in high school. I was on a church youth trip making our way...
Nicaraguan Gallo Pinto (Spotted Rooster) + Recipe
I had the opportunity to enjoy Gallo Pinto many times during my week in Somotillo, Nicaragua. I was asked to teach a week in March at their training Institute there.
